Navigating the EPC Atlas: A Visual Guide to Europe's Energy Performance Tools
The SmarterEPC project continues to contribute to the enhancement of Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) and Smart Readiness Indicators (SRI) with the recent completion of comprehensive Assessment of available tools for their calculation (see the report D2.1 here: https://lifeprojects.r2msolution.com/public-material-case-studies/). This evaluation has been instrumental in cataloging and analyzing a broad spectrum of EPC tools used throughout the European Union, identifying opportunities for refinement and enhanced integration.
Comprehensive Assessment of EPC and SRI Tools
The analysis examined in detail over 85 EPC tools and various SRI applications, focusing on their functionalities, input methods, and compliance across the 27 EU Member States. This effort highlights a commitment to raising the standards of energy performance evaluations throughout the EU, aiming to enhance the quality of these assessments.
Introducing the Atlas of EPC Tools
One of the key outputs from this evaluation has been the development of this EPC Atlas - a user-friendly digital interface that maps available EPC tools across Europe. This Atlas serves as an essential resource for various stakeholders, including policymakers and building owners. It is designed according to the ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010:2022 standards and integrates Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), ensuring robustness, adaptability, and interoperability.
Atlas Features and Capabilities
The EPC Atlas offers a variety of features to enhance user interaction and data accessibility:
  • Interactive User Interface: Navigate through a dynamic European map to explore EPC tools available in each country.
  • Detailed Tool Insights (under development): Each tool is documented with specifics on features, compliance, and user feedback, aiding stakeholders in making informed decisions.
  • Cost Structures and Compliance Details (under development): Users can assess financial implications and regulatory adherence, facilitating a tailored selection of tools.
